The recent research advances on erect panicle japonica varieties was summarized,and the characteristics of erect panicle japonica varieties were analysed. The growing areas of this kind of varieties indicate a trend of quick increase because its yield potential was high and the resistance to diseases and lodging were strong, it was necessary to carry out more researches on yield-related physiology and high quality related cultivation methods.
