    Abstract:

Seedlings with 3-5 leaves of five hundred and sixty-eight sorghum accessions were treated with 50mmol/L saline-alkaline solution to evaluate the tolerance by scoring the seeding survival percentage. Result showed that about 5% of the accessions possessed a third grad and above tolerance to saline-alkaline. The methodology could be applied for saline-alkaline tolerance evaluation in seedling stage. However, the saline-alkaline tolerance of mature plants were screened with the following index system, witch the agronomic traits showed significantly different among different treatments and the correlationship between the checked characters and fresh spick weight and fresh stem weight. Eighteen sorghum cultivars were screened using above evaluation system. This system was suitable for cultivars screen of Saline-alkaline tolerance in coastal area.
