The research methods and achievements in recently decades for forage germplasm resources innovation of China has been summarized in this paper. The methods of intraspecific hybridization，distant hybridization，radiation，ion beam implantation，spaceship-carried，chemical mutation and gene transformation were stated detailedly and the application prospect was also discussed for forage germplasm resources innovation.
